In Home and Community Supports is a program provided by Lakeshore Community Services to individuals with an intellectual disability who are living in their own home. Our staff offer individuals the education and support they may need to live successfully on their own. Staff assist them to negotiate with landlords, budget their money, or access available means of community assistance such as food stamps, transportation or medical care. They also assist with daily living tasks such as shopping, cooking and cleaning. Our main focus is placed on teaching the skills necessary for those we serve, to become more independent and achieve their personal goals.
Our staff provide support to help with every day stressors and challenges. Ever respectful of a person’s independence, our DSP’s in this program gear their availability to the needs of each individual they serve.
